Notes
All measurements in inches, unless noted.
S - Steel Platform
A - Extruded Aluminum Platform
AB - Above Bed model
GBR - Gas Bottle Rack model
Please provide bed height measurement when ordering an Above-Bed (AB) Rail Gate.
OPTIONAL PLATFORM DEPTHS
Since the Extruded Aluminum platform is composed of 5-inch extrusions,
the standard 55” fl at loading depth can be extended in 5-inch increments
to a maximum of 70” (plus a 12” taper) or shortened in 5-inch increments
to 35”.
POWER OPEN & CLOSE
The Power Open & Close system is not available on Rail Gates with
both 1600 lbs capacity and 65 or 70-inch fl at loading depths. For
these models a Torsion Bar is required. All 2000 lbs capacity Extruded
Aluminum platform models are available with the Power Open & Close,
regardless of loading depth. All Treadplate Steel platform models
(not GBR models) are available with Power Open & Close.
OPTIONAL MODEL WIDTHS
Steel/Steel or Aluminum/Steel Models
All Platforms except GBR
ALL ALUMINUM MOUNTING FLANGES
The All-Aluminum models can be bolted onto the truck body. The Gate
Width measurements include the side flanges (one on each side) on the
frame where the bolt holes are located.
TORSION BAR
Instead of the Rail Gate’s standard Power Open & Close cam arm system,
a closure-assist Torsion Bar can be substituted. Rail Gate GBR models
have the Torsion Bar only (as do certain optional platform depths).
A Torsion Bar is recommended for some trucks with bed heights lower
than 32 inches.
For forklift or dock loading, choosing the Torsion Bar option allows the
platform to be dropped vertically below the truck bed (depending on platform
size and bed height), allowing for truck bed access without opening
and lowering the platform.
ABOVE BED/BED HEIGHT
Bed Height
The platform on a Bed Height Rail Gate model will lift up to the level
of the truck bed (loading height), but no higher.
Above Bed (AB)
The platform on an Above Bed Rail Gate model will travel above the
truck’s bed (up to 54” total from the ground). The vertical travel of the
platform above the bed will be the maximum travel (54 inches off the
ground) minus the truck’s bed height.
For applications involving trucks with low bed heights, consider the Rail
Gate Above Bed model to help reach docks above the truck’s bed.
